I don't often post, but here goes ...

For Sale: Buell X1 Lightning
1999/2000
US import, still to be UK registered.

Bought this from its importer and has been a tinkering project for the last couple of years. The bike was running fine just before Christmas, and I was intending to get it MoT'd and start the registration process, but - as with much of the country - events intervened and I recently tried to start it again and I think the fuel has gone stale. Now it turns over nicely but will not run. So plans have changed.

Some of the good bits...
polished and de-lugged swing arm
polished and cut-down cam case
polished subframe, complete with custom undertray and re-located seat lock
CRG brake levers
new HEL stainless steel front brakeline
cut-down front mudguard (not sure the thinking behind this, not to everybody's taste - but not the end of the world!)
LED rear light
new battery
dual seat, and fitted with a seat cowl for single seat option
new wheel and headstock bearings
Frame and engine numbers correspond
I'm sure there are more that I have forgotten

I have a box of bits and pieces including
pillion peg mounts
set of clocks (not sure if originally from the bike)
some plastics
billet front engine mount (bought from UKBEG)

Still to do, includes:
Registration - bike not yet registered in UK, so buyer has the opportunity to register it and be the first owner recorded. I bought this from the person who imported the bike from America, and I have his HMRC letter confirming NOVA, and VAT and Duty correctly accounted for.

Good project for someone to finish off, or use as a stock of spare-parts (but this would be a shame, however if you've got the time the bike could be worth more in parts than my asking price for it in one piece).

I am looking for £3000.
What's my best price? - I will not enter into offers until you have been to see the bike.

If you've read this far, well done!

PM if you are seriously interested.
Collection in person only, from Southampton.

Bit of an update...

Finally, with five minutes to myself away from elderly parent duty, and with a clearer head, I wheeled the bike out into the sunshine. It started first attempt and is now running nicely once more. :sun:

Thanks.
I now have a dating certificate, :yup:
and booked the bike in for an MoT next month.
Have received the V55 paperwork from DVLA. :tw:
After that I need to consider if I will insure and register it myself and, as you suggest, possibly weaken and keep it. lOl
I have never been a first owner of a vehicle before! :D

Just received the paperwork back from DVLA, and bike is now UK registered with the V5, and a V-reg number plate.
