,,wish I had a spare £1500,,,, :sad1:

The bottom seems to have dropped out of the 70's trail bike market, in conversation with someone the other day, the realisation was it cost about £2000 to get it up to scratch.

Some of the rarer 70's trail and trials bikes are fetching good money, but they tend to be rarer ones like Miller Hondas and Majesty TY Yams. The Bultaco Matador bikes are going for about £3k.
The Yam TY trials that I got cost me £550, but I've had to put big end, mains, seals and a rebore/piston, into it. Recently sent my spare TY motor off to be machined for a stroker, big bore kit (210cc) lOl Still looking for some thicker TY 250 forks+yokes, but they get snapped up or fetch over £200 on Ebay :?

This idiot sold his 250 Beamish Suzuki for £1500.

Considering I sold my NorVin for £800  , you made a killing on that Steve lOl

Seriously, do not go on Trials Central, you'll see what a good Beamish fetches now

I had one of those (with banana swinging arm), enevitably the motor went bang, so I reversed the back wheel and shoved a Suzuki SP 400 motor into it. It made a lovely green lane tool :yup:

That must have been fun going backwards everywhere
I've got a monoshock DT250 in one of the sheds and an 84 TT600 both need using really, I keep promising to do them up but you know how it is :sad1:

That comment about going backwards reminds me of when i was a teenager and worked at a dealers that sold the 2 stroke Harleys .....I was running one of the 250 singles for a few weeks whilst my yamaha was having some work done .....anyway busy Saturday afternoon in the Town center I pulled up at a junction with dozens of folks walking past ........gap in traffic so rev it and let the clutch out and it jolts backwards .......whip the clutch in and look over my shoulder to see which of my mates grabbed the seat and pulled me back .....nothing ....go to set off again bastard jolts back again ..so i spin round real quick to see where they are hiding .....still no sign of them just a queue of cars behind ....did this about 4 times before i realised that whilst sat waiting that the small missfire i heard was the engine suddenly reversing it's direction lOl .........I was so glad for a full face helmet because it was sure hot inside it when i realised lOl

This is apparently true. My mate was given a Villiers engine from a 70`s disability car and put it in his dirt bike and managed to reverse onto the bonnet of the car behind him at the traffic lights as he pulled away, backwards. :? :oooops:

They had 2 sets of points. To reverse, you stopped the motor, switched to your other set of ignition, and fired up the motor backwards lOl
