Bought an old T595 Daytona at the weekend and I appear to have a number of loose Rivet Nuts (didn't know they existed until the weekend) on the subframe and I also need to replace one on the silencer end can.

There appear to be a range to types and prices on the internet ..... but which one?

So any recommnedation for a relatively cheap, but functional setting tool. It doesn't need to be mega quality as it is not going to get used often but I would like the capability to 'set' M8 Stainless Riv Nuts (as this is the size for the Exhaust Silencer).

I bought a cheap E-bay one (£15 ish) and it was rubbish.
I did less than a dozen rivnuts before it broke.
A case of 'you get what you pay for' I guess!

There you go, don't buy cheap n nasty! It will always let you down when it's most inconvenient. There's a fair amount of force involved in setting the steel ones, less so the aluminium ones.
Mine is a Eclipse-Spiralux, came in a box with M4 M5 M6 M8, identical to this.

I have this . Does up to m8 , used it a few times and all good . It's handy having a swivel head.

I got a Sealey AK3984 (short arm) a while back and use it for aluminium and steel nuts, up to M8. So far it has been perfect and have probably used it for 50+ M8 steels by now, no sign of wear. I used to borrow the 'scissor-type' but find the Sealey a load easy to line up and make sure the rivnut is square. Google an image and you'll understand what I mean. I think it cost me £35, with a list of 80, or so. They're still around that price, so cheap but far from useless, based on my experience.

Jez. Just get those short arms into those long pockets and get a snap on kit. Even if you use it once, you'll be able to look at the rest of it in awe forever :yup:

Rather than drilling the old ones out, if they're in good condition, I've got away sometimes, with giving them a light twatting with a copper mallet (supported with something heavy behind to soak up the blow) 😀

You could also use that last method to tighten a loose Rivnut, (especially if you have no access to support the rear of it to use Adam's twatting method).
