Isn't is so that they first copper the parts and afther that nickel plating!?
I have seen that done with fuel tanks and fenders etc ,so it would be possible with a frame to i guess.
i also did understand that the copper is better against the rust and makes the nickel shinier!

I was actually looking at Rocketmans S1 just a couple of weeks ago and like somebody else mentioned it does have a nickle plated frame and I believe was done a lot of years ago. It also has a pair of Carbon fibre wheels

Apparently the electroplating process can cause problems with the welds.
I had some alloy brake parts done for my car project with "electroless nickel plate" I don't know if that could be an option?
Bright nickel plated frames look fab in my opinion!

Never had any issues with plating nickel on fabricated steel parts on oilfield equipment and it's held up for years just fine, even over the welds, not just on mild and medium carbon steels but also on chro-molys like 4130 and 4340 used on our welded style hydraulic cylinders. Go ahead and plate your frame and be happy. 1998 and earlier frames are mild steel and 1999 and up are 4130.

And you can always contact Sean Pepper (Rocketman) about his plated S1 and how it's held up the past 18 -19 years for further proof of "does it work well?".
