Soooooo, at risk of looking like an idiot...... I have spent about 5 hours shimming, re-shimming, and trial-fitting my non-shit gear change. It all seems incredibly tight and in the end, in order to get the lever at the right height, and allow the rose joints to float, and to make sure the gear lever didn't touch the derby cover and to ensure the clutch cable wasn't interfering with the linkage I had to put a couple of spacers on both rose joints on the tie rod. I presume this is not normal but I couldn't figure any other way of getting it to operate smoothly and with nothing interfering.

Have I missed something?

The tie rod goes on the other side doesn't it....................doh, but it seems to snag the clutch cable then,,,,, back in the garage.

The spacer you've made doesn't look long enough (told you to let me do it !) and yes the conrod goes on the outside.

Sorted!!

What a fooking idiot!! :oooops: I have a long and convoluted excuse around the fact I haven't got the original spacer for the lever and obvioiusly blah! blah! blah! too many variables etc etc etc wood for the trees and all that........

Yes I should have let :maz: make me the spacer but where's the fun in that???? :headbang:

Now all looking peachy

Its just shimmed out with washers at the moment, proper spacer will be produced next week,
