UKBEG have been invited to visit the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit on Sunday 19th March. The Cystic Fibrosis team wish to thank UKBEG for raising an astonishing amount of money for the unit in Emma’s memory. They will show us how the money is being spent and how it benefits CF patients and supports their research program.

At the time of writing the amount raised stands at almost £75,000.00 :P...

We’ll ride down to the Cambridge area on Saturday 18th and visit Papworth on Sunday morning. If any UKBEG members would like to attend, please meet us at the main entrance to Papworth Hospital between 10.30 and 11.00am. We anticipate the visit will last approx. 1 hour.

The Papworth fundraising team will lay on light refreshments so we’d need to know in advance how many people are expected to arrive. Please let us know if you would like to attend. It would be nice to have a few additional Buells there for photos etc. with the CF team.

A member of the Papworth fundraising team will attend Em’s Day on Monday 29th May: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21891

Really looking forward to this. I am seriously interested in finding out how the money is spent and what technology helps this awful condition and whether a cure is possible. Xx

Jill, I agree. We had an informal visit to Papworth after the 2009 UKBEG Buell Lands End/John O Groats Challenge but there wasn't time to meet the full CF team. This years more formal visit will give us that opportunity.

Progress has been made since Emma passed away in April 2004. People who have CF now can expect to live longer. I'm sure the £75,000 that UKBEG has raised to date has helped to play a part in fighting the disease and medical advancements.

Thanks, William.

Papworth have asked for an idea of the numbers attending by Monday 13th March latest. I feel a little list is in order :P...

Earlier in this topic I mentioned the 2009 UKBEG Buell Challenge which raised a considerable amount of money for Em's Charity. This picture was taken on the 3rd May after we'd all reached Lands End. All the Buells completed the Challenge in (mostly) one piece and apart from Roz's Triumph engine seizing there were no major mishaps.

That was one of the most memorable UKBEG events we've ever organised. We don't always get things right, but this we did.

Reminder, on Monday we have to let the Papworth team know the numbers for refreshments. As it stands there's 7 people down to attend.
