Hello from North Devon.

Boring back story.....

I've ridden bikes for years, was well into building fighters back in the 90s, nearly bought a tuber back then but less than 4 years old with 7 previous owners put me off.

Then family came along and the bikes switched to crossers and enduro bikes and then they got parked up in the garage and forgotten whilst I messed with VWs instead.

But as I approached 40 I promised myself the bike of my dreams, for years the BMW GS, then I switched to hankering after a Ducati 916/996 - to be honest there are loads of dream bikes, I just dont want an inline four again.

So now I'm 44, lost a whole summer of any freetime but saved myself 15K by building my own house extension - I damn well deserve that bike!

I've been eyeing up the Ducatis, wondering if it's all a bit too sensible, too shiny, too 'nice' (and too bleeding expensive) when during a random visit to a bike shop - I spy a Firebolt..... but it's sold.

This rekindles my interest in Buells, I started to look around, it's my birthday Saturday - fingers crossed I'm off to look at an XB9 SX.

So excited, I feel like a teenager again!

(but I got a restraining order last time so maybe that isn't a good idea) ;)

...............Enough waffle - hello an all that. :yup:

I'd really need to sort insurance first - been six years since I last ad bike insurance and my old company don't remember my no claims (20+ years), would I start from scratch or would any company take my car no claims? Any recommendations for insurers?

Got several quotes, best was 183 fully comp with 250 excess - seems OK to me?

Not really tried yet - just did a go compare to make sure I wasn't going to get a nasty shock and seems fine????

Well - what a birthday.....

Been looking forward to this for weeks, today was the day I was to gonna go and try my first Buell and hopefully come home with a new toy.

Ebay seller sent loads of messages, trying to sort out a viewing, got one reply but never got any contact details.

Made a 2 hr drive on the off chance that he would get back to me and make the planned Saturday evening viewing.

Nowt - complete waste of time and money, there was another bike I could view on the way home but I think it's a grand overpriced so I just gave up.

rubbish.

'decent' and 'tuber' are mutually exclusive terms.

I always wanted a tuber, they look fantastic but the reviews and the reliability problems

The fuelers are generally fugly - apart from the city X which is f'mazin.

Anyway - I've just bought one, from the bloke that never contacted me on ebay, as the only bidder I got it for a steal, probably wont contact me or sell the bike, or come up with some bullshit story so I'm not celebrating until the deal is done and the bikes mine.
