Very pretty and a great place to feed the kids (Avoca Cafe). I enjoyed the Conor Pass last year but the Gap of Dunloe was full of walkers/tourists/horses and carts. Thinking of trying the Beara Peninsula this year.

A good day, it stayed dry and apart from a delayed departure from Liverpool we had an enjoyable journey. We arrived at the hotel at 9.15pm, a bit later than expected but having a cuddle with Nick (both of us :oooops:) more than made up for it.

Looking forwards to a great weekend  .....

After a dry and warm start to the day, during which we rode a good part of the 'Wild Atlantic Way', the weather deteriorated somewhat and we ended up with a soggy afternoon. Despite some rough sections of road the ride along the southern edge of the Galway peninsula and back through the Connemara National Park was stunning.

Not a day for two-wheels unfortunately, the weather's been pants for most of the time :( .....

All wasn't lost however, we all jumped on the bus to Galway city. Jane and I spent a slightly soggy but enjoyable 5 hours visiting various places of interest and doing our best to support the local tourist industry. Everyone we've met on this trip has been so friendly and helpful, Irish hospitality is second to none.

As an aside, in one of the cafés we visited we met Patrick Fitzgerald (http://www.fitzgeraldassociates.net) from Chicago who has a collection of classic and current model Moto Guzzis. We got talking about Italy's finest, Wisconsin, East Troy and Erik Buell. Talk about coincidence, what's the odds on that happening? If we ever visit Wisconsin again he kindly offered us the use of two of his Guzzis.

An appropriate picture from today....

Our last day in Ireland and ironically it's a dry forecast for the ride back to Dublin.

Despite the weather we've really enjoyed this trip. We picked a great location/hotel and all the staff have been very friendly and helpful. The meals have been faultless, they serve fantastic food at the Coach House and judging by how busy they've been over the weekend they have a good reputation locally.

Nick, Cheles, Pete and Maureen have all helped to make it a memorable UKBEG trip. They've been great company and we've shared many laughs together.

Time for another full Irish breakfast  ......
