Interestingly I found this...

http://m.bridgwatermercury.co.uk/news/1 ... __s_death/

Guy killed on his Buell in Bridgwater, was wondering if it was linked to the throttle guide problem...

Was he on here?

As well as searching ebay for the 6mm x 5.75 Barrel Nipples, found that they're also listed on Wemoto at £0.49

I know I've joined the thread a bit late but had a similar issue to Pash with the "open" cable fraying at the bracket end of my throttle on my XB. It had crossed my mind to replace the inners on both but saw new ones on fleabay from a guy in East Troy and thought I'd save myself the aggro......

Trouble is, I've used all the adjustment at both ends and they're both still a bit slack. Before I troll around Hong Kong for Bakers fluid and a serious soldering iron, thought I'd ask the forum: did I buy the wrong cables and did I miss something obvious as I'm pretty sure I put the old ones back the same way the old ones came out? Any ideas where I'm going wrong (other than owning an XB)?

It's an '05 and the parts were bought were still in OEM bags with part numbers 17136 and 17137.

Can you compare them to the old ones? Is something missing?

Edd and I are making cables today.

Speedy cables in Wales make bespoke cables, I've had 2 speedo inner cables made, the replacement speedo cables sold now are 6cm shorter than the originals, if you send the cable they will make it, took about 1 week

Nothing obvious; guides, adjusters nipples all looked the same. In hindsight I should've laid old against new but being OEM, I didn't give it a thought. Just seems like the inners are about 20mm longer than they should be. Being in Hong Kong and postage being as it is, reckon I'll start looking for Bakers fluid and a soldering iron or solderless nipples (whichever comes up first). Just thought it odd that a pukka part, which doesn't appear to have had a part number change throughout production period, isn't a good 'fit'?
Might be eating my words next weekend after I attempt modification.
