I'm not sure if anyone has found this yet but, Cycle Word reports that there is a NHTSA recall (09V109000) that applies to the 09 XB12R, XB12Scg and 08 1125R. It concerns the routing of the front brake line. To be re-routed FOC and if the line is damaged FOC replacement.

Wonder how long it will be before that is done in the UK.

Yep, it was sorted in this Country months after it was carried out in the US. Aparently recalls have to go through VOSA, who delay the process. Ironic considering it's a safety recall.

Sorted out for some!!!! My bike has just spent 3 weeks in Riders and has come back with the cable held out of the way with a cable tie!!!! Harsh words have been had with Buell UK. Who, by the way, didn't seem to give a shit. If this is Buell ownership, I won't be making the same mistake again.

Report them to VOSA. This is a Safety recall! The recall kit has a 'P' clip, a bit of sticky backed plastic to protect the fork leg and a new hose if it's been damaged. Get Court C on the case Who did you speak with at BUK?

Two numptys, gonna email Buell HQ in the States. I've had nowt but bad service since I've had the bike. The Buell flagship held together with a fuckin cable tie!!! Obviously they've forgotten the power of the internet and that bad publicity is just a mouse click away(as they should know by now(mcn review didn't sell them any bikes)). Speaking of MCN, I wonder how much Buell paid them not to publish any of the 1125R long term test results. Remember the nice man that came on here and sprinkled fairy dust from his lips? CRAP.

What I'd ask Riders is, what have they done with the recall kit that has been allocated to your VIN number? More importantly, IF they claim to have carried out the recall, then the Mothership will pay them for doing so. IF this is the case, it could open a can of worms

Even though I have these things outstanding, I think most, if not all, have been done...

Certainly, the Fuel Tank Vent is the new style (right angle bend), the Fuel Tank Retn has the "teeth in it" to dig into the rubber, the negative battery cable is flexible and the shock is a Showa. Not sure about the sidestand switch, nor the swing arm.

I had previously been to Riders to ask if they could do the recall work, and they were looking into it, at least Ian, a helpful chap with a Father Christmas beard and an M2 was.

I had to go to Riders today (on my 08 Langster) to pick up some bits, so I spoke to Paul the service chap.

Pash: Hello mate
Paul: Hello mate
Pash: Look, remember I came in about some recall work and Ian was looking into it for me?
Paul: Yes
Pash: Well, look, I reckon mast of it has been done, even though the Harley Service Checkup thing says it hasn't
Paul: Yeah?
Pash: Would it be possible for you guys to have a look at the work, confirm it has been done and update HD?
Paul: Well how long would it take?
Pash: Dunno (thought bubble - can't be more than 5 mins work)
Paul: Well it's all unpaid work (in an aggressive tone)
Pash: I don't mind paying
Paul: Well you shouldn't have to (note the backtracking ). How will we know it has been done? (thought - )
Pash: Well, Ian has an M2, I am sure he can tell
Paul: Just don't bring it in on a Saturday (terse tone)

So, he lost his rag with me, after I am trying to save them some time, booking a bike in and them finding out later. What is this world coming to?

Anyway, how can I get the Harley thing updated? I want rid of this grey cloud...

I'v got a 6 week old XB12ss after getting it back 2 weeks ago from its first service i thought id give it a clean to remove the oil around the oil filter etc, i noticed the front brake line had been rubbing on the front fender and worn the plastic coating off to the braided line and worn the fender!!!
I told the dealer about this and there reply was well your bike is not on the recall list so it cant be rubbing.
i ended up taking the bike to the dealer so they could see.
dealer: well yes it is rubbing but its not on the recall list,
Me: i know but it needs rectifying
Dealer: well put some tape round it and cable tie out the way
Me: ok thats fine so i can use it but can you sort it out ?
Dealer: We will have to contact buell and see if we can get a kit we will call you
Me:Ok

Irrespective of whether there's a Recall or not, the brake line is faulty (as the dealer has seen) so why didn't he replace it under Warranty? Bear in mind, you've already PAID for your Warranty, it's not a free gift generously donated to you by HDB.
Name and shame the dealer, if you're involved in an accident, can you imagine what your insurance company or the Police would say about a faulty brake line, even though it's just the plastic coating that's worn through.

What's the Dealer planning on doing about the mudguard? The Recall won't cover that - is he yet another Dealer that is refusing to carry out Warranty work? ( my local dealer also refused this service, consequently I use a far superior dealer in Mchr these days )

An update
I rang the dealer to find out what is happening and well the person i needed to speak to is on a hardly Danagerous jolly in the USA and the staff that are left havent got a clue about it at all but they will give me a call on friday when the person comes back ( like they have done to keep me updated etc )
so i will name and shame this buell dealer because from day one iv had nothing but problems with them and an unsaticfactory experiance

As far as I know you can use any Buell dealer. I would do this but Riders is my nearest, and thats a 200 mile round trip! If anyone can recommend another dealer I can use from S.Wales PLEASE let me know.

Correct, any dealer can carry out Warranty work. When I had an issue with my XB forks, the local dealer refused to carry out Warranty work but Yoffie sent me an email volunteering to get the work done for me. I took the forks off and mailed them down to him in a hard rifle case. Apparently, the Dealer Principal saw the case with 'Walther' written all over it and wondered WTF was going on
Consequently, I bought my 1125 from DG20 and Mchr HD have dealt with several warranty issues on it in a thoroughly professional manner

It's a sad fact that Mchr and BB stand out like shining beacons in a sea of dealer mediocrity, if you want good service, they are the ones to use
