Broke down yesterday bike just died on me ,got recovery out and put opimate charger on over night . Battery was reading fully charged this morning but would not start all indicator lights everything went out when i hit the starter button, the ignition switch was hot last night when i broke down. I changed the handle bars this week and the front brake light switch not working now pos broken wire somewhere but not sure if this was the cause of my breakdown yesterday , rode about 170 miles before it packed up , anyone got info its a 99 X1 .

Sounds like you handlebar changing exploits have led to a short circuit..... maybe a frayed wire or a break in the insulation. Probs on the right hand switchgear lOl .

If the starter button got hot, i'd guess that the spring will have 'normalised' so you'll probably need a replacement.

Update , new battery fitted but no fuel pump activating although engine turns over. Phoned Maz he sugested sitting on bike with sidestand up and pull clutch in even though the bike was in nutral and she fired up fist go. Joined wires at clutch switch end and also at side stand switch problem solved although i still have to check the voltage output , and i have just noticed one of the diodes is missing but will be replacing that this week hopefully all will be good, thanks for the info Maz.
