I understood 1203 was head of parts in the UK, with that sort of role I would think he would have some sway with HD in the US.

the saga continues. back in September the pillion seat and cover came off my CR. i found it next day with the cover badly scratched (i was doing 70 ish). 5 weeks later the replacement i ordered turned up at plymouth hd, but was damaged. the replacement for that has still not arrived 4 weeks later.

i know its not an important part that stops the bike from running, but its fucking ridiculous!!

H-D will/are already blaming their suppliers, tis an ideal cop out

Before the demise of Buell, these companies were churning out 100's of units per week for production, now Buell is gone they're only asked to supply units in very small numbers for spares.......if you were that supplier, what would your attitude be ?

To get around this, it seems to me as if H-D are putting items straight onto back order until they have sufficient numbers to satisfy a supplier ?

....either that, or suppliers who make/made Buell specific parts only, can see the writing on the wall and have given H-D the finger ?

from Sportster -manns thread..
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9192

Erik Buell :

"They let me know about 5 days before hand and it was absolutely sickening to me. The first thing for me was a feeling of dread thinking, what am I going to do for my employees? It was the longest 5 days of my life. Not only did the decision directly affect us, but it affected all of our suppliers as well. The trickledown effect was staggering in how many people had to be let go by all of these companies that stuck with us thru thick and thin, and now due to decisions beyond our control they are telling their people, “Go home, we don’t have work for you anymore”.

:sad1:

1) Cash in advance
2) Pretty much amounts to the same thing.

So great one - time to start compiling a "most needed" list. Amongst us we have expert machinists and I'll guess experts in composites and even casting.

EDC has already trashed its inventory of 'obsolete' parts and it would appear the US warehouses are doing the same.
Every cloud has a silver lining though and this whole debacle has led me to discover a source for parts that should keep us going well into the future

Now all that's needed is a distribution network ...
