Hi folks,

Is there anyone who could give me hand with tuning my 1125r ECU. Or show me the basics using ECMSPY or any other programme preferably via windows 10 & a laptop.

I'm familiar with TuneECU but not the ECMSPY or the other one that get used for Buells.

I can source a bluetooth conector or a wired one (Wired preferred) but don't know where to start with EMCSPY, probably because I'm unfamiliar with tuning separate bits in the ECU just re-writing whole maps.

Anybody willing to give me a lesson in person? I learn much quicker on a practical basis (doing stuff) than trying to make sense of the written stuff. I find active participation much easier than words.

I can obviously ride to you for a lesson, so anyone about to do something that includes a cable, laptop & ECU drop me an email if you feel like helping out ok?

Stay between the hedges folks. Paul.posting.php?mode=post&f=8#

Thanks for your reply.

I'm in Derbyshire. Matlock area.

I don't have a cable or any tuning programme yet as not sure which is best or better & for what reasons.

I'm open to suggestions for these. Any help would be thankfully received.

I also don't mind paying for someone to do the ECU for me at whatever the going rate is for this although I may be a little premature (wife's always complaining about this) as I don't have another exhaust yet.

I just know the engine is really stifled & I need to let some of the heat out of the engine that the back pressure from the standard exhaust is creating.

I would also like to move the silencer away from the engine heat flow that seems to be blown out of the right side & give it a better escape route rather than on to the top of the standard silencer.

I'm still in the looking & deciding what to do mode of thinking but by any account Tuning the ECU can be learned with or without altering anything, so that I can do it when needs be.

Sorry to sound a bit vague.

Paul.

I’m a big cable fan...

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13767

But if you want to log a Bluetooth module is probably better and tidier.

You are very welcome to come to visit me in Bristol, I’ll show you all the functions, talk through what you want to do and if you don’t do everything yourself at least you will be clued up when someone does it for you.

Thanks for the offer of training, very good of you & I may well take to up on it at some point when it suits you.

As for now, taxed & insured, I took the bike out last night for 50 miles or so, A roads, motorway & city.

A roads the bike was great over 4,000 revs otherwise it was "hunting" & "surging" wanting to be revved, pretty horrible trying to negotiate A road sweepers with the hunting & surging going on, making the rear end react.

City was F****n' awful, surging hunting, noisy engine, up & down the gears trying to keep it running.

Thankfully on the motorway the 1125r was stunningly fast & although stifled at higher revs was actually a very fine ride.

I also took the preload off the front forks completely, felt better & stopped it over steering as much as it was although some fine tuning of the rebound & compression has to be done yet, but it's a nice start.

So, at this point. my attention has turned to tomorrow & the plan of action is.

I'm going to approach the Harley dealer as the bike originated in Nottingham & see if they can flash the ECU to the updated BUE2D as I'm pretty sure this has the older BUEZD. One look at the wheels tells me the previous owner wasn't too hot at maintenance, so have a feeling the ECU will be in standard trim with original factory tune on it.

I'll see how it runs if I can get this done before further forays into tuning, as to be honest if flies in standard trim & I'm really pretty impressed with it. Just the low down running that needs to be sorted for the moment.

I found myself thinking at 8000 revs "Well done Erik", sticking the Rotax engine in that very, very taught frame was nothing less than inspired. To be honest though, I'm pretty sure Harley Davidson got their noses stuffed right out of joint when he did this & on reflection it wasn't his cleverest move to ditch Harley engines. They are Harley Davidson with a history that I'm sure they didn't want tainted by Erik replacing their american dream engines with Rotax. Bye Bye Erik, just one step to far for Harley. Shame as these are really very fine motors indeed. "Just my opinion of course".

Thanks again for offers of help, they are very much appreciated.

I'll keep posting as I'm sure their must be others out there just about to, or just have, same as me been dragged back into the Buell stable by this astonishing sports bike.

Ride safe & stay between the hedgerows.
Paul.
