Just started my S1 after nearly a year in hibernation, on Optimate. Fuel in tap on choke out, starter pressed, burst into life easily enough but oil light going on and off, checked oil tank, bubbles on oil surface but no real apparent pumping flow, anyway all of a sudden it started pumping and oil light out. Do I have a problem or was it just taking time to "prime"? Also I understand that an upgrade oil pump is recommended, why, what is the issue? Thanks in advance, for your help.

I bet 50p it's your oil pressure switch that is misbehaving... Mine did that once before I had words with it (and replaced it).

50p is a lot of money in these days of austerity so if you are willing to go for such high stakes I'll take your advice and change it. Funnily enough I had to change the switch when I bought it as it was playing up after a layup then. Can you imagine buying any bike with a flashing oil light, let alone a Buell, I did and my faith in the bike has been repaid with six years of minimal hassle Buell ownership.
