Hello Fellas an Felleressesss ess !
It's been a while, still got the Thunderbolt an it was fine till recently but it's started burning a wire out from the Reg/rec An yes the dreaded click click even though the battery is fully charged an all that stuff Urgh ! So it won't start.. hence I am in need of a mobile electrician or someone who knows what they are doin Please cos the baseball bat in the corner of the shed is lookin mighty tempting at the moment !!!

The earth wire from the Reg rec gets red hot while the starter button is pressed. Any ideas why

Oh an the battery is good on a drop test, never drops below 11 1/2 or 12V

sounds like the starter circuit is trying to use the regulator as an earth

Yep new earth strap ! An everything cleaned an nipped up.. I've even run an earth straight from the Reg Rec to the battery just to make sure an it still burns up... lost

I would check the resistance , of all the earth cables (even the new ones)
not being funny, the battery is connected correct polarity wise ?

Will do mate ! An yep polarities are correct.. I'm not a stranger to bike electrics but this one has got me head hurtin, think I'm goin to take the loom completely off An check every single wire ... I shall return !!
