Well, Ive had the buell for a little bit now and love it,but........
The voltage reg has packed up on me and it took ages to get a new one...
I also noticed it starts to tank slap at anything over 80 and is not very stable.
The tyres are old and going to change them first.
I have also been looking and a damper what are your thoughts ????

Shouldn't need a damper to handle ok. Definitely new tyres, and almost certainly new wheel and steering head bearings at the same time.

You only need two bikes in life-an S1 and a Multistrada!

That would be wheel bearings, XBs do get through them, No need for a steering damper, they are sweet handling tool, deal with your issues first and then decide whether its necessary.

Its one owner form new and 8000 on the clock

As soon as my XB12 was out of warranty, I took it down to the Emporium for a service and a sort out. The bike needed new bearings and Maz sorted out the suspension as well as the other bits and bobs on top of the service. It was like riding a completely different - and much better - bike when he was finished with it.

Do yourself a favour and take your new baby to Dukinfield and treat it and yourself - you wont regret it and you will learn heaps about your bike.

Sadly, the XB had to go, to make room for the SX, but both the SX and the X1 only have work done by Maz.

Right update on speed wabble and knocking.
I have had the bearings checked fitted new tyres and FS belt tensioner all of which have made a big difference......
I'm not getting the big vibration anymore BUT still have a nocking from the back end when going over a bump or just off the throttle. Its almost like the rear shock it going g to full extension.
The wobble had got much better but she is still lively at the front over 80.
I have started to play with the suspension setting to see if I can get it better.

I have checked the front engine mount and it looks fine But need to check the back one.

Would love to sort the knocking out

I'm going to back up what most folk have said, take it to Maz. He really is the Yoda of Buells.

Rough guide on wheel bearings - change them when you change tyres. Trust me, this is fact.

No idea about the over 80 thing. I've had an XB9 and a 12 and both were fine right through to max.

Really, if you can, get it to Maz.

No wobbles on my Uly at 80. Change the tyres as a pair, run to recommended pressures, and new wheel bearings when you change tyres (change not check), for an extra tenner it's cheap peace of mind. Head bearings every 10k. I'm bored of listening to 'my bearings lasted 30k' cos they deteriorate from day one, the question is how much deterioration can you live with? If you want maximum pleasure from the bike, you don't want any noticeable deterioration. When I change all this on mine it feels like a new bike.
