Just taken my XB9SX to my local bike shop to fix leaking fork seal. They could not remove the fork cap so didn't complete the job. They were worried about braking something which they could not find a spare part for. They claim to have all the fancy tools and impact wrenches and they heated the fork too but no joy. There is certainly signs on the hexagonal nut that considerable force has been used, but the cap nut is not rounded off.
I don't have tools, garage or know-how so I'll be trying some other mechanic.
Should I be trying to source another fork cap to give the next mechanic some confidence about trying harder?
Any tips or advice on methodology (to pass to mechanic) or recommendations for a mechanic gratefully received.
I'm near Kent and South East London.

Have they undone the top yoke clamp before unscrewing? Fork top nuts aren't usually very tight.

I had a fork that I couldn't remove the top cap, so it does happen.
