Just as a low down on the difference between the clutch parts fitted to pre 06 XB bikes and post 06 bikes, what are the differences, and are they interchangeable ? If so, does the lighter spring rate make for less wear on the associated parts and longevity ?
Just asking :maz:

Thank you for all the helpful replies.

I got the clutch cable disconnected from the lever. Got the lever and and holder cleaned up.
I then applied a liberal amount of ATS down the clutch cable.

Whilst the cable was disconnected I tried to fit my FS soft clutch mod again (now there was some tension off) but the screw still won't budge.

Anyway, got it all connected back up and the clutch pull doesn't feel any different to me. Still requires all four fingers and considerable effort to pull the clutch in. Is this the norm for an XB12? Am I just going to have to spend more time in the gym?

Cheers

Muller power clutch is a popular answer in the US, yes you may have to pull the lever further but it should be lighter.

Come on guys , have you seen how tiny Jill is and she can work her clutch OK ;) I've never found the clutch too stiff on any of my 4 Buells X1 1125 and 2 Ulys , the 1125 is the lightest but not really any better. Another thing to check if it makes your wrist hurt is the angle your wrist and hand is at when riding. Your wrist should be straight but I often see bikes where the riders have the levers either too high or too low forcing the wrist into an unnatural position.

Went for a little ride today. The clutch seemed a bit lighter but I could feel my wrist going towards the end. Luckily I don't need to change gear as much on this compared to my previous speed four.

I'm going to have to treat it as part of the bikes character and build up some forearm muscle!

I always found these exercises strengthen upper arm and wrists. The default southern softie workout :yup:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yULp0Vnzblc

To be honest I thought the clutch on my 07 was nice but I did spend some time lubing the cable and setting it up, works a treat. I was just interested to know what the differences were between the pre 06 and the post 06 clutch setups. I guess if I ever get a pre 06 bike I will find out. :headbang: At least I was on topic-ish :hehe:
