Hi, my ulysses has always been a bit grumpy in heavy prolonged rain, it's got a whole load worse recently to the point of cutting onto one cylinder then dying altogether after about 20 minutes of rain. Started again when left for 15 minutes so I guess it's wet electrics and engine warmth is drying it out.
Any ideas where to start looking and what if there are any, other than liberal dousing with wd40, common cures?
I'm planning a Scotland trip soon so a bike that doesn't like rain is not ideal!

On pre-08 bikes the front plug lead chaffs against the tickover adjustment... So as our Kev says, new plug leads...

Riders of Bristol for originals or Magnecor from wherever gooooooooooooooogle tells you...

Thanks Kev and Pash. I'll order new leads tomorrow. Is there any value in covering other electrics with lithium or silicone grease?

To me, there's always a value in that, especially getting at those connectors behind the front pulley cover and making sure all's clean, tidy and tickety boo.
For the rain issue though, new plug leads all the way and making sure when the new ones are in, that they're routed so not to chafe against anything.

...and throw that archaic WD40 in the bin before you do any real damage with it.
HT cables should be dry (surgically clean) not covered in a slimy fishy oily film that dirt will stick to.
No harm in a blob of silicon grease INSIDE the boots though.
