Just fitted a front engine mounting billet bracket to my 2001 Cyclone, new bolts tighten to 100 Ibft as per the manual (thread lock, and oil on the shanks).
Went for a quick blast around the block. When I got back I noticed that one of the bolts had lost its head.....
Did I do something wrong? Is this a common occurrence?

:headbang: I feel your pain!
Nothing worse than knowing you've done the job properly, not taken shortcuts nor made compromises, and yet it still goes wrong.

Maybe just a bad bolt. I'll fit a new one - once I've worked out how to get the snapped off one out.....can't remove the bracket 'cos the frame's in the way

Correct torque is 60 ftlb.......back out a couple of turns, then back to 60ftlb.

Thanks Maz, that would explain the failure.

Yes....thanks Jez :) .......waiting on a written report from the lab before I can get a reaction from H-D but not holding my breath re. a favourable outcome
.....and the fact that Tinks over torqued the fasteners doesn't help much :headbang:

Yes, my fault, but it does undermine trust in the manuals content.
I wonder what else is bollocks?

Buell workshop manuals are full of incorrect data and omissions, some of which date back to various recalls, misprints and general oversights, etc.
In your case, I suspect you read NM instead of ftlbs ?
