Hi,

I have an 2009 1125cr but the steering is suspect, its still on its original tyre on the front but a new pilot 4 on the back i have adjusted the suspension setting to a 2008 r model as it was bone hard and destoying my back got the settings off here as a download totally transformed the ride.

Right!

When i tip into a corner with quite a lot of lean it seems to tip in, then it feels like it goes in again on its own just a little bit, but notiicable and slightly unsettling normal slow riding with progressive lean it seems fine.

Also it seems to turn one way better than the other but only when your pressing on, i have checked the tyre pressure 36/38 i think, retourqued the head bearing and checked movement from lock to lock seems smooth and notch free.

The bike itself has only done 3500mls but the forks have that annoying knock from the top of them, but they do that apparantely,

On the running side of things the bike idles fine,it has a EBR ecm fitted, perfomance wise seems great, but it won't run right below 4000 rpm i know they are lumpy down below that but if on real tight back roads like we have, the on and off throttle response throws you off-line and becomes hard work and is spoiling the fun.

It's Terrible in speed zones like 30-40 it surges, cuts out, fraps and farts, seems way to weak on mixture, seems better when cold.

Would it be better with the standard ecm or would you recommend i stay with the race one? :headbang:
Thanks

This is a common behaviour of PiRo 3 and PiRo 4.

Take the pressures up to 34 front and 40 rear.

Thanks Maz

I will try that, any ideas on the running front can I just plug in the original ECM and see, or do I need to change some Parameters as I don't have a cable but need to get one.

Thanks again,

Martin

And do a tps reset , you don't need a cable or anything to do it on 1125's or late model xb's.
Also if you are running mismatched tyres it could be the cause of the handling feeling weird.

:yt:
I've no big issue with mixing tyres (Pirelli and Michelin seem to go well together),
but if the profiles aren't similar, it can cause strange handling.

Thanks for the help,

When I had the rear tyre fitted I asked about changing the Pirelli corsa 3 on the front to match the pilot road 4 and the tyre fitter was positive about the mismatch and I really trust these guys they been fitting tyres for years.

How do I do the TPS reset please On my CR?

Went out on it tonight God I love that bike :) :) :)

Hi
Mine does the tip-in but equally on both sides.
I put down to me being Top heavy at 16.5stone.
I found that a weight shift, on setting up for the corner cancels that out
Now I have new rubber front and rear, I've found I only need to get my outside shoulder over the centreline of the bike, give a little squeeze, and it's gone.
On Faster corners, I feel much more stable with a cheek of the seat.
Me being Heavey makes me the wrong shape for riding a machien like this and leaves the machine/rider combination far to Top-heavy.
so  I am leaving the pies and Stout behind!
Lost another 3lbs this week, and I can now get a 'Full Half a lung full' when my jackets zipped
Food and beer come a poor second to riding
Pilot 4's are great for me, very confident in them sticking.
Will be interested to know if it is a 'set-up problem'?
I just put it down to a heavy weight on a light bike.

Hi,

Its been a while sorry, I just wanted to give an update on the weird handling on the CR, well I'm pleased to say its been sorted now I have had a new tyre fitted to the front.

Michelin pilot power 2ct
Michelin pilot road 4 on the rear.

All I can say is "WOW" the bike is perfect on this set up the handling is divine now :yup:

The tyre combo has also transformed the ride comfort I am running at 34F 36R.

What about the poor fueling. Did you manage to dial that out or is it still present ?

34-36 is the standard pressures. It's lower than I use on my other bikes (36-42) and like you, I feel a bit top heavy on the CR. handles fine if I transfer weight more than I do on other bikes but I have never taken to the edge of the tyre like I do on the KTM 990
The engine is far smoother than the KTM and power is much much progressive and predictable. KTM still very sensitive at low throttle despite remap and throttle cam change. Fun when thrapping it though :D
The TPS reset is easy without any tools, It's been mentioned on here a few times, I can't remember exact sequence off the top of my head but its just a matter of ignition on, twist throttle and snap back a few times. If you can't get correct sequence I'll dig my manual out and get back to you.

Michelin recommend 34 42 on their website.....I find 40 in the rear slightly better :)
