Well you've had to remove the exhaust headers to get the camcase off, so you can already see the exhaust valves via the ports......and you'll need to remove the inlet manifold anyway.....

You wont need an independant opinion to determine if the pushrods are bent.....they'll be VERY bent.

They´re not that bent....one of the back push rods seems a little curved, I´ve just put them against one another and rolled them with a strong light in the background to see how much the light leaks through....but it´s not like any of the pictures...specially gunters....his pics make me sick :shut:

I´ll get those pics for you Gunter just as soon as work dies down

Guess I´ll get the old flashlight out and spend some more time on my knees

Thanks

Mike

Have had a look today, the valves are intakt and from what we I can see through the sparkplug holes there is no noticable scraping on the piston heads. The pushrod for the intake on the rear cylinder does have a slight bend bend to it though?? I can still find no real explanation to the damage on the pinion gear and shaft key??

You really must remove the head. If the push rod is bent then the valve has hit something. The valve may be bent and possibly broken a guide.

Both pistons show impacts from outlet valves, and so do the valves. I bet a beer on bent valves and some more problems, because there must be a reason why clearance disappeared. Big end failure? :maz: will know for sure.

Your inside1.jpg looks very similar to the picture of my pump:

which had grinded some larger chippings to dust.

This is the archived thread that contains several pictures after a crankshaft bearing failure.

I´ll have a look at that as soon as I get the battery loaded...been using it for the electric motor on the jack.

Could it just be fragments from the broken key that made the marks like that....still havent found any other pieces or shavings and the cam-gears look to be in good shape

It's the front cylinder, probably running rich as hell as only the rear one gets monitored with the O2 sensor.
