Just a thought, I suppose the 17mm inner diameter of the original gives a snug fit on the spindle to keep the spacer centralised. How do we keep these new ones centralised with it's 20 mm inner bore?

edit: I need to get my wheel out to check this out....obviously if the inner bore of a 6204 bearing is 20mm then the spindle must be there or thereabouts....so I'm struggling to understand the 17mm bore of the original....will have to pull it and check to get my own head around it.... :headbang:

:D

There are some top hat spacers, 17mm ID, 20mm OD, which protrude through each bearing and locate the spacer.

The important facets of the spacer are:

Length - it needs to support the inner races of the bearings with no gap, i.e. when the bearings are fitted, the spacer should be locked tight by the inter races.
OD and ID - it needs to support the area of the inner race, any overhang or underhang is wasted material. The stock spacer only supports the bearings down to the 20mm diameter

The only function of the 17mm ID is to guide the axle through the top hat spacer the other side. That's a luxury I can live without... The axle is not going to be far off cos the first spacer it passes through will go a long way to align it...

They may not make it to Jack's Hill yet, although I have the tube, nothing is ever as simple as planned...

I'll take one too thanks Pash.
There's an outside chance I might get out for long enough to make it to Jacks Hill Cafe.

Jeez Pash, how do you find time to work, play with your bikes, make stuff, make mrs Pash happy and serve the community. I think you are really Clark Kent or maybe his brother Clark Somerset.
