Fitted a new drive belt last night to my Ully following snappage on Monday.
Also fitted new FS Tensioner as the previous one totally seized up.

2 problems.

1. New belt is tight, to be expected, but finding that the FS Tensioner is fully compressed, so no spring adjustment left for when riding. This is even after fully undoing the nut that sits against the tensioner spring.

2. Had to offset the FS Tensioner away from the engine block using 2 thick washers as opposed to just one as it was jamming against the rear muffler mount/strap (probably as a consequence of above). So 1/4 inch of belt is unsupported.

I seem to remember someone elongating the mounting holes in the Tensioner arm to take off some tension from the belt (though I think that was on a standard unsprung tensioner). Has anyone done this on a FS one?

Has anyone experimenting with shaving away some of the metal from the Muffler side of the FS arm, to provide clearance and allow the tensioner wheel to sit flush under the belt?

Seems a waste to start bodging up that nice piece of black alloy with a drill and a file :( but better than fubarring another belt.
