I have just purchased EBC replacement pads for my '97 S3. Part No FA173 and have now realised that the pad next to the piston does not have a locating spring (that fits into the piston hollow) like the EBC pads Part No FA251

I have used Carbonne Lorraine pads without this spring in the past.

Whilst it appears to be safe, there is just that nagging doubt.............

:askmaz:

It'll be just fine......springs usually break anyway

Personally, I'd upgrade to a Nissin caliper

Cheers Maz, much appreciated!

Not keen on those Nissins, since they changed their name from Datsun :?

As Dasty started the derailment and Maz has given the correct answer...

Yeah, that "Raining Datsun cogs" gag has never been the same since...
