Can anyone please tell me the Ford equivalent part number for the electrical connectors to the injectors for an XB12 (2007 model). I know they're Ford parts cos its moulded into the body of the plug. I believe the TPS is a Ford item also, I'd be really grateful if anyone's got the reference number for this too. (Ford parts are considerably easier and cheaper to get hold of in Hong Kong than Buell parts).

Can't tell the part number, but watch out for the TPS, as there are two versions. 2007 and later models have the pins sticking out at 12 and 6 o' clock, earlier models look different, I think more 2 and 8 o'clock.

This is the later version (picture from Buell Tech Bulletin B-062A (2006 Throttle Body and Throttle Position Sensor Production Change).

The early one previously shown is the same as a 1989-1993 Ford Mustang V8 5.0 ltr (TPS233 is an aftermarket number I bought at Autozone in the US recently for my early build '06 Uly).

I don't know about the later version introduced somewhere in 2006 production.

Gunter, thanks for the technical info, the pictures are fine. Pash, thanks for the Motocraft part numbers, the prices on the Li k are a out half what I've seen them elsewhere (91USD, American Sportsbike).http://www.americansportbike.com/shopon ... 17492.html and Rays, thanks for the heads up on the differences; the bike's a 2005 but I fitted a 2007 motor a couple of years ago.

Christ knows what's wrong with it, getting a code 11 and it wont start. ECMSpy says my air and engine temps are both >100C when the bike's cold. Will get my meter out tomorrow and see if I can make some sense of it all. Was running fine last Thursday, will have a look this weekend :?

Dammit, gotta work this weekend so might not be able to check it after all. Earthing I can figure out but how do you test for a dodgy ECM? :shock:

Hmmm................ Not many Buells in Hong Kong, fewer still, owners who want to let me borrow their ECM. Finally talked on into letting me plug my XB12 module into their XB9. Apart from the expected check engine lamp due to the absence of a white wire to plug into the ECM the bike started and ran fine and the sensors all gave sensible readings in ECMSpy.

Convinced my ECM was fine, took it home and plugged it back in to where it came from. Bike started fine and ran until I switched it off. Went and got my helmet in preparation for a test ride. Tried to restart and............NOTHING. Bike cranked but showed no signs of even trying to start. Switched off, fan ran at high speed. Plugged in ECMSpy and got a similar set of (crazy) readings as the last time I tried (last week).

If the ECM really believes the values it's displaying, no wonder it won't start (actual AIT about 22C, engine temp about 35C, throttle closed).

BTW, main earth connection gives good continuity, all the plug connections are sound, no external signs of chafing on the loom.

Running out of ideas, anyone else got anything fresh to offer? (I'm expecting someone to tell me to check the continuity of every single cable; I'm hoping someone will say that they had this problem themselves and it was solved by swappping (perhaps) a relay.......)

With 3 seperate sensors giving strange readings,surely it must be sensor grounds.
Check the pin outs on ecmspy site,iirc there is a row of 4 grounds out of one of the connectors. (Go to the cam cover on 1125)

You could just check them from the plug to battery ground,resistance would throw readings out.

The main engine ground strap is obviously ok as motor cranks fine.

Poked around with all the wiring, never found anything chaffed. Bike starts first time now but disinclined to take if for a spin in case it lets me down again; it's getting too hot and humid to push and too expensive to tow.

Trying to figure the bad earthing possibility put up by Pash and Rays, the engine temperature sensor is only one wire, (earthed through the engine) unlike the IAT and TPS sensors which share a common earth to the ECM with VSS and CMP(speedo and cam position). Still in head-scratching phase; will let you know when it's sorted.

Check list common part of the ground:
- Battery negative to battery pan and left side tail section of the subframe.
- Left tail section to main frame.
- Unbolt all the screws and eliminate the oxidation on the contacting surfaces and on both sides of the threads (normally 1/4" UNC).

Check also on the positive of the battery, there are two wires. The thin one sometimes get loose inside of the connector.

Now that sounds like advice from a man who's been there himself? They let me have a few hours off for good behaviour at the weekend. I'll get the suede brush and contact cleaner out on Sunday and let you know how I get on. Thanks for the advice; still in Spain, Garrcano?

May be worth taking a jump lead from the battery ground to the engine, and check the head temp.
