Recently picked up my first Buell, it's an '09 XB12Ss with about 2,500 miles on.

Whilst cruising at around 70mph a little yellow/orange warning light came on (same colour as the fuel light but with a V shapped marking).

I'm guessing this is some sort of engine warning - I'm now at work so don't have access to my handbook.

I tried stopping & re-starting the engine and as soon as I got back up to a consistant high motorway speed the light came back on again.

Once in town I flicked the engine off and on quickly and the light went out & stayed out.

Apologies if this has been covered a million time - I did do a quick search and seemed to find some stuff that suggests this might be something to do with the engine mapping and my aftermarlket, Stealth, exhaust?

I'm afraid I'm a complete technical ignoramus so didn't understand some of the stuff I found so wondered if someone could give me a relatively simple explanation?

Seems more helpfull to me, if you retrieve the error code from the ECM first.

I don't know how to do that?

Sounds like I'd need to attach something (a laptop?) to the bike in order to display an error code?

Or maybe it's built into the dash somewhere?

If you dont know hat your doing take it to the dealer as it's still under warranty.
Give them a phone and they might even pick it for you.

Thanks for that - I'll try to have a go at this tonight.

If it is the lambda sensor then that doesn't sound like too major a problem?

:oooops:
I've just noticed this post after replying to your one in the newbie section.

I had that light come on after I deactivated my o2 sensor after having it on the dyno.

It looks like a pig to change.....

I have a 2009 reg xb12ss manufactured June 08, same problem coming back to Roscoff last week, engine managment light came on for about 40 miles then went out, stopped for fuell after ten miles came back on and then went out about ten miles before the ferry, the dealer has allredy changed the ecu and the oxygen sensor, when i took it in after this time it was showing a fault on the oxygen sensor, spoke to both Colin from more speed racing (get well soon Tubbs) and Matt from Adrenelin, bot said there had been problems with 08 and 09 buell xb12s, sugested running iridium plugs and superunleaded, not tried it yet, but will let you know later
