Took my bike out before and it seemed a bit shuddery. Stopped to get some cash from the hole in the wall. When I restarted it only fired on one then backfired and stopped. Wouldn't start again. The needles did their sweep but no fuel pump buzz and no starter motor when I pushed the button. Trailered the bike home and now it's working again.

Washed it recently ? Or been out in rain ? Could be water in the plug leads ...

When were the plugs last changed ?

My money is on chaffed wires to the left of the headstock...

Did wash it at the weekend - I've only had the bike a few months so don't know whether keads have ever been changed. It does miss a bit a bit in the wet so maybe they need doing.

But why would water in plug leads stop the fuel pump and starter motor running?

Thanks for the chaffed wires suggestion Pash - I'll have a look for this tomorrow.

Or relay (or diode) contacts (in the relay/fuse box)...

Found one of the connectors (the one to the kill switch) under the fairing had some water in it. Dried it out and wrapped it in tape to try to stop it happening again. Lets hope this was the problem.

Went out for a ride this afternoon and the bike behaved perfectly - looks like that was the problem.
