Current ride: Buell X1 2001
Hi Guys, need to get the old girl up and running and I know what to expect.

The fuel will be old and the last time i started her in feb 2017, you could hear a struggling whine from the primer as I turned it on. So how do I go about draining and putting new fuel in, or will it start?

I know I need a new battery and it will be an HD one. The last cheapo one blew a neg terminal off in July and nearly put a hole through my leg!

Any other hints, as the oil will not have circulated for a while anywhere! Will the primary be ok etc?

If it was last run in Feb this year I don't think you'll have any issues , the fuel will still be ok after that small amount of time, by the time you've spun the engine over a few times the oil pressure will be up but do bear in mind it might have wet sumped so will probably appear to be short of oil in the oil tank , DO NOT TOP UP the oil until it has been run fully up to temp.

too late, instead of reinstating her here, I am shipping her home, all looks to be ok , just needs a new battery, rear tyre and the only thing I have found worrying is a bit of fork corrosion just under the headlamp mount, will address this when it returns...... I expect within 6 months I will take it to :maz: to see him shake his head at the sorry state of it. The shippers are coming tomorrow, €793 delivered to my door, would love to ride it back but cant afford to get all the bits for the ITV(MOT) and ride it back from Tenerife and lose work while doing it!

Noone will buy it here on the island, they dont work!
