Ecm seat squash was a fault on early transalps aswel, had to buy 2 a few years back......I wonder why they didnt fit some sort of protective bridging bracket running over connectors to ecm so even with a large load on seat, it would be imposs for any pressure to push down on connectors.... :sad1:

Was up at friends the other day who’s got an old but very clean Suzuki 1300 , and ecu is playing up, fuel pump intermittent priming and ignition advance kicking back on the starter , cost of new ecu form Stealer ship £1500 :shock: :headbang:

I noticed on mine that there were slight witness marks that the seat had touched the ecu even with the post so I also cut a hole in the seat with a 2" hole saw.

No probs today.. Relay swap all good so far..Breakfast in Kinmel bay at lunchtime, then on to some great roads to Llyn Brenig Reservoir in the Denbigh Moors, Wales.. would have been some great views if visibility was better than 10 feet..
Found pub called The Crown on the B 5105, didnt stop but will be back very soon with the good lady, in car.. :)

Great roads....

This is a standard seat on an 07 model. See the witness marks, the pen marks roughly where the ECM and connectors are.

You will see that the harness is rubbing through, so this base is going to be cut back...

The lower chafing is from the protective post, don't chop this out...

Great, I have an 06 but with a lower seat so better have a look I guess and see how close it gets, maybe see if I can lower the ECU mounting or protect it.

O.K. although I have not had a problem and can't see any signs of having one such as rub marks etc, recent correspondence with pash has got me thinking that maybe I should do something, after all, as they say prevention is better than a cure. So here are my efforts..................

i have used the oem plastic peg as simply a resting support opposite the fixed end of the plate, and welded an extra middle support between the back of the ports, not touching either port, seems nice and solid no movement whatsoever, and the seat fits on just fine. :yup:

Thanks for that, yeah no-doubt I could possibly make a few that would no doubt get snapped up, but to be honest I don't have the time or inclination, I'm just to busy trying to get things done in order to retire retire in a few weeks time.

I probably wouldn't have bothered in the first place if Pash hadn't kept dropping subtle hints about the plastic post, fitted to my 10-plate XT, not necessarily being a guarantee as a saviour which had me thinking the worst. :headbang:
