My S1 has not run for a few months and has not really been used for a year or so.

I went to start her up, all that happened was I ran the battery down.

On to the Optimate she went... Whipped out the plugs (how easy was that compared to an XB  ), and turned her over. They sparked fine, but they had not been wetted and there was no smell of fuel coming from the plug holes.

Next job, whip off the carb... Pulled it apart and found loads of gooey mess (breather mod here I come), lots on the idle mixture screw taper... Out with the carb cleaner, then back together.

Hit the starter button and she roared into life. Bit of tinkering with the idle mixture screw (old skool TPS reset  ) and the throttle stop screw and she was ticking over like a champ...

I never knew how much I would miss the simplicity of carbs....

Being an :old: :old: one myself I am not to sure.

If you like them I would think you are going to have to have an older bike because of the Co2 thing. I do not know the score on a retro fit back from injection though and do not recall a modern bike with carbs.

For my sins I have had a number of new and old injection cars/bikes with no probs. One car I left outside for near 2 years and it started on the third turn :o and that was a very old Citroen CX.

Given my time with both systems I will always go with injection myself but it is, of course, down to whatever people want to run.

Depending on what you want to do, I've used a carb on my Xb9 Engine, but then the rest of the bike is not a standard Buell.... :)

Hmmm, I am trying to see what is non-standard on the picture on the calendar, but just can't get past the bird in the red pants...
