HD is like any other US company: anything that doesn't benefit the share-holders isn't worth keeping, regardless of (ex-)customer-interest or pride of products.

Mind you, that's maybe why US companies produce in countries like India and China, while most of our UK companies are owned by those countries

I have built up a modest collection of parts to keep my M2 going (only 63k done, surely at least another 63 in it lOl ). I have to admit though that part-supply seems to have improved from pretty miserabe back in 2001 to pretty good in more recent years (I get most stuff from Riders of Bristol or on-line). Some prices have gone up considerably but that's understandable to some extent.

I remember Yamaha selling their stock of classic model parts cheaply to specialist-dealers and enthousiasts; BMW did something similar with their pre 1970 parts back some years ago: It's not an uncommon thing to do and would be nice to see the same happening with Buell bits.

Update.......so when the tail lamp bracket didn't turn up either, after the suggested 3-4 weeks delivery from the USA, I once again chased the order.......

.......part is now no longer available, even though, once again the order was processed and accepted at the time ie. part in stock and available for dispatch.

It would appear that the USA warehouse is going through the same process as the EDC and binning Buell parts.......so much for assurances

This part is now listed as 'vintage' and as such means that only stock still held at dealers will be available :headbang:

Funny, isn't it (NOT) that you can still buy parts for a 40+ year old H-D from your dealer without any problems at all :x

:?:

Perhaps they only consider that it's only neccessary for models that were still in production when they pulled the plug ?

or perhaps HD have absolutely no intention of supporting a marque whose owners,(on the whole) have no interest in branded toilet roll holders and chrome effect plastic chiwawa wellington boots ?

:yt: we don't buy the lifestyle tat , where most of the motherships income is from

:yt: You know, I was the NEC show yesterday (which was pretty crap - I won't be going again  ) and listened in on a HD staff member talking to a prospective punter about their 'Sports' bike  which ,of course, was the new XR. Said punter was then directed by me to the only Sports bike on display there which was the original XR race bike and given an accurate account of fast 'Harleys' by me. I think he'll now be looking to buy a s/h Buell :yup: instead of a tarted up Sportster.
As Erik, in his latest interview said about the new XR, 'We were far beyond that', and then went on to say what could have been if he'd been given the 'gift' of 100 million? that Wandell and his sidekicks gave to MV

Let's hope the EPA in 2012 makes Wandell etc regret this betrayal and make them crawl back to Erik asking for help 8-)

H-D can tell me what they want, I do not believe a single word of what is told.

There were several changes to your order due to obsolete parts and price changes.
The changes are reflected on the website, but we will not process the order until we hear back from you.
Please call

Here is a list of the changes.

Obsolete items removed from the order:
L0501.02A8C (engine front mount)
M1662.1ANMZ (front fender sunset orange)
M2600.1ADMZ (windshield sunset orange)
M2647.1ANMZ (spoiler RHS sunset orange)
M2648.1ANMZ (spoiler LHS sunset orangs
N0102.02A8 (clutch lever silver w/o bolt)
N0202.02A8 (brake lever silver w/o bolt)

Here is a list of the price changes (including discount) changed on the order:
1x N0104.02A8 (from $14.00 to $81.28) (clutch lever assembly)
3x N0307.1ADA (from $40.08 to $117.60) (cable assembly, throttle open)
3x N0308.1ADA (from $50.40 to $117.60) (cable assembly. throttle close)

Aside the plastic parts, remaing parts made obsolete are quite rarely to be replaced, won't you all agree? Who will ever need a front mount or a hand lever? And it's just one year, the brand has been bined now, not 10 years. I'm just waiting til the belts are considered to be obsolete.

So now we are all riding around on collections of expensive parts. Must make breaking them worthwhile which is a crying shame.
Is there any legal recourse against HD if all this is true?

Regarding on-going parts support- here is the situation as of today:-

We currently support 5300 different Buell parts. There has been no plan implemented to reduce this number, rather the opposite where folks in USA are working hard to keep support going.

To restate our previously advised position:-We remain committed to supply parts for Buell Motorcycles for 10 years from the date of the last new motorcycle sold ( there is still new stock in the European network so this clock has not yet started).

Something doesn't quite add up :? :?

I've no idea how big a player 1203 is in the H-D corp but it's quite possible that they're 'mushrooming' everyone...

Not the first time that's ever happened either

Kin Cheers....
