I have a problem, ive just had my bike serviced 5K by a local chap (i know; should no better) far too much oil was put in, it poured out when i checked the dip stick I thought something was wrong, have only done 10 miles, have now drained to correct level. i must learn to do things myself, what issues could arise from this over filling

It'll fill your airbox up with oil for one...
You checked the level with the bike on the side stand right?

i think thats where the garage got it wrong, Pash
I always check it when warm and on the side stand hence the oil flowing out of the dip stick hole
