Yep. Any Triumph which has a separate engine and gearbox is called a Pre-unit, as in Pre-unit construction. ;)
Early ones were Magneto ignition and 6volt Dynamo for lights, like mine.
Later ones had an alternator in the primary case and ran 12volt.
The beauty of running magneto ignition, is that you can get rid of the battery to simplify the bike.

Spot on with the picture BTW GM. :yup:

if any motorcycle, anytime in history deserved the title "icon" then the original 5T "Speedtwin" is it, 8-) spawned a range of bikes that kept a company going for more than 40 years

I believe I have a picture of a bike which did the same for another manufacturer....

Mojo, here's a bit of inspiration. Somebody's doing a board tracker based on a Trum single... http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/show ... hp?t=66896

I've been following the progress on that for a couple of years. I just never got around to signing up on the JJ.

Several winter jobs planned. But winter here is so short :ner: - I'll leave garage cleaning until the annual UK-OAP (and hopefully Southern Posse) visit is over.

The S3 - nothing planned (yet?)

The Guzzi - Diff oil leak to fix and some cosmetic stuff. The planned motor mod's will have to wait 'til I've more dosh.

Trumpet - albeit a different age - will be losing some bits and gaining others.

Losing some bits & gaining others.......

I call that a bike that is evolving.

All my bikes do that!

Got the VTR painted today (it was yellow before) bottled out of the Britten colours, so done it white lOl . I'll post some piccies when it's back together, after ripping the harness out (carbs see ;) 8-) ) and rewiring it more simply - along with a CBR fuel pump coz they get a bit starved at high rpm apparently :?

Probably just as well.

You would have had to tell everybody it was supposed to look like a Britten anyway! ;)

I've got an NC30 under a cover in the garden & it's coming into the front room for some TLC this winter... I'm lobbing an old sofa bed to make room, so if anyone wants it feel free to collect!!! Not sure if the NC will be road or race; probably a bit of both... It's not a Triumph, but it is iconic... :yup:

I always wanted an NC30... I always wanted a reverse cylinder TZR250... Then my dad bought a late model Aprilia RS250, I took it for a ride and wondered why I would ever want a peaky two stroke... Especially when I have an S1 (and XB12R) that runs as smooth as the skin of an attractive young lady...
