I found out tonight, whilst refitting my front wheel, my torque wrench is only a torque wrench in one direction. I'd hazzard a guess that I was upto 60 - 70 lbs before thinking this doesn't feel right, it should have clicked by now. Backed it back off to an "approximate" 40lbs. I only took the wheel out to change the pads. What's the likely damage? Will I need to replace bearings/spacer? I'm doing Cadwell on Monday...

Wheel doesn't need removing for pads.
Spacer will need checking for sure.

If it is a clicker type, dependent on it's design, you may find you have reversibility by pushing through the square drive to the opposite side?

Nige. :?

Outside pads came out dead easy, couldn't get enough twist on the caliper to get the inside ones out. I guess there's a knack I haven't got.

That's what I figured, I'll give HD a call in the morning and order a spare one up just in case.

Thanks Maz.

Probably related to the way the bike sits on its sidestand.

Outside = right hand side
Inside = left hand side

Hmmm...

not sure what side of the road you ride on has to do with anything. Last time I checked, my disc didn't sit in the middle of my wheel but was bolted to the right hand side of it. The pads to the right hand side of the disc are outside the wheel and the pads to left hand side of the disc are inside the wheel.

Riding on the right is still wrong though, unless you're overtaking...

We only use "left" and "right" sides of a bike, as seen when facing forward; never inside or outside.
