Just to add the theme i've just had the second belt on my XB12r break it's only done about 5K. First time it went was without FST, then not long after second one went on FST put on during 10k service with Maz.

Is it a shit design on the bike or are the belts shite.

Does it happen as often on tubers or 1125's

Do people who ride there bikes all year round what ever the weather get more belts breaking. I seem to.

Have you got stone damage marks on your rear sprocket? If you get flints in between the belt and sprocket, they will cut through the kevlar thread...

If you have no damage marks, take it back to the dealer where it was bought...

There are some marks on the rear pulley but I think they are old, I'll check, I took pictures the last time it broke and posted on here. Maz said it looked fine.

I have taken the belt into the dealer but they said only 1 yr warranty on belt and beacuse I hadn't got a full service history using a dealer they couldn't do anything.

Sort of resigned to paying up and putting up.

They've got a 1125r for sale seemed a reasonable price (£5794) registered 04 2008, might be because it's one of the earlier models that maybe had issues??

Toying with the idea I could broker a deal, bike without belt that they could probably fix cheaper then I can plus cash for updated Buell.

Judging from the various reports it does not seem to me that you'd have less trouble with a l/c Buell. Just different trouble ...

16,700 miles on my Dec'05 built XB9SX belt, most of those with an FS. Belt was originally scheduled (according to the original dealer) to go ping under normal use in another 3,300 or so. :?

I would like the dealer who said FS tensioners increase the risk to explain in depth why this should be so! Tis b******s in my humble opinion.

Of course she may go ping on my very next ride.......but it will have nothing to do with FS. More likely the 1000 or so miles I did with a slightly wobbly jocky wheel bearing! 8-)
