What's the point?

The Buell company no longer exists so there's noone going to redesign the wheel bearing set up. HD will just drop support for them in all meaningful terms - "we've ran out of parts" or something like that and then we'll have real problems.

It needs to go back to the old days when testing was done by employees and not the poor saps who've just spent their hard earned on the latest bike....

Wrong m8, the parent company still has a duty of care, any good brief would take them to the cleaners.

:yt: You're quite correct Richie, the MoFuCo do have legal obligations under statute law. However, an extremely wealthy company such as HD are effectively above the Law that the likes of you and I could enforce upon them. Their Councel would bankrupt you before any court finds in your favour :x

If someone wipes out and uses an ambulance chaser, and the fault is traced back to a 'known' design defect. The shit would hit the fan.

Wasn't there some scanbal about petrol tanks on some Fords exploding during impact. Ford found it cheaper to pay off the estates of their 'victims' rather than alter the design of the tanks? I don't know if this is completely true though :? It may be a bit of an 'urban myth'?

don't know, but Jaguar had a big fuel tank issue with xj range, early eighty's (and was proved that they knew) they would go bang if rear ended.

Not only had it disintegrated but it had decided that it didn't want to be removed either.

I saw that on some Panaorama type programme years ago Adam, couldn't believe what I was hearing at the time but it was a legit report into the scandal. I've never found anyone who saw it though, though I'm not surprised word of mouth has gone round about it.

Kev - good you're back out and on it chap, nice one :yup:
