Even though my manual says nothing about grease I will concede that grease is often used to assemble components engine/gearbox but it is only for initial run protection and in some cases just to keep the bits in place (use a bit of grease to hold the collets in place whilst putting valve springs back on).

We used to use grease to hold gaskets in place and all sorts.

Yes thanks GM, I feel much better now :old:
I have printed a copy of the page from the xb9r manual that the good souls from this forum supplied to show all ye doubters.
I can even post it to whoever wants it so there! :old:

Tis right Softley, for initial run.

I need to do this mod soon, I'm starting to lose sleep again :cry:

you did Greasemonkey and I repeated it for good measure! :D

don't loose sleep Nate my bike had done 5k before i did the mod and no sign of heat build up or play. there again....................

Remember if you spend to long on this site you will be waiting for your bike to disolve and never ride it.

Must go and check it hasn't fallen off its stand!

If you've not had the stand pivot recall, the stand will fall off the bike.

Been and fetched the Maz seal today. Will fit it tomorrow morning.

Fitted one this morning, nice and clean in there with absolutly no sign of any oil what so ever! What a cock head design :roll:
Got some oil in there and now all I gotta do is rig a delivery system. Hmmm will see whats available at work ;)
