Hiya Maz, had a few beers, (look at the time of the post! ) So not looking to cross swords as we've done that before over stuff we will probably never agree on! Just a bit curious about your (welcome) opinions on Firebolts..... I was under the impression that they were essentially the same bike as the XBS, but the XBR comes under your critical gaze far more than the XBS (on the forum at least). From your perspective is it just a look/pretention thing, or are there techy reasons why the Blot (not a misspelling for newbies!) comes in for such a hard time? I saw an XBS first and wanted a Buell immediately. Then I looked at how I ride, (a little touring, a pillion, and a bit a of motorway in between lots of twisties) Saw the Bolt and loved its look, and thought it would be a bit more practical than a lightning for me. Still love it and back away now from the tetchy chatter that sometimes filters in here. -See, I'm getting forum savvy!

Worry not oh man of Buell Turbulent leather jacket...

We know the truth...

BTW, I am not into these bar and footrest conversions... Saying that, how many people with X1s and the like have changed their bars?

Didn't think you had that in Glasto? My signature explains a lot!

I haven't been on here since before the forum moved (my bad, I use a macintosh all day at work and can't bring myself to look at a computer when I'm at home) and had to re-register, but I see people are still laying into the bolt so it's as if I've never been away. :D

Recently hurt my back, seems to be a theme, and while it's hopefully going to get better, it's taking it's sweet time, and contorting myself onto my bolt isn't the best thing in the world, though I have to say to the naysayers, it's normally a comfy bike (no, I'm not 3'6" either).

I was thinking about bar risers or a conversion, but you know, looking at this thread I don't think I'm going to. One of the reasons I got the bolt over anything else was the ride, the stance, the whole bolt pilot experience, and looking at the conversions, while they probably work for some people, I think they will change the character of the bike so much I might as well change the bike entirely. There's no way I'd get the same feeling out of it with those mutha's attached.

Thanks for posting the pics. Good job if it helps you, but you've saved me from ruining a perfectly good (Or bad, depending on which camp you're in) Firebolt. Only question is, what am I going to do now?

Give up and swap it for a Sporty? :o

I ride solo. Instead, I'm taking the missus to the yoga and stretching classes I'm going to enrol in.

I've been away too long - I forgot about the quality of the sound advice you're guaranteed by the various luminaries of this forum.
