Hey trying to figure out which xb12 to get?

whats the differnece \ benifits of all the differnent variations.

# Lightning XB12S
# Lightning Low XB12Scg
# Lightning Long XB12Ss
# Lightning Super TT XB12STT

I'm only 5'6 so I thought the low would be good, but my current sports bike seat hieght 815mm so I dont think seat will be an issues on any of them.

I'm just unclear what the differences are between all these models?

There's a clue in the names. The Low has a lower seat height, the long has longer sub-frame, pillion and swing-arm. The STT was only available new in 2007, it was basically the standard XB seat and subframe on a 12X (a.k.a. Ulysses) all-road-style chassis.

The seats are very wide, which is as important as the height. I doubt you'll get comfortable with the height of the STT.

Stubby means you are looking at the Scg or the S. The Ss is long and the STT is tall.

You don't mention the 9SX, the best handling and most fun of the XB range, IMO.

Best solution might be the old-fashioned trick of heading to a dealers and trying them.

Nearest Dealers is a couple hours away, so will head down when im closer to buying one .

looked into the xb9 , if I was buying one, maybe as well go for the faster one, since there still gonna be slower to my sportsbike.

If you are looking for top speed in a straight run, and you are used to an I-4 sportsbike, you may end up constantly disappointed as a Buell owner. Buells are good in corners, and, as Norm was suggesting, a lot of riders who like corners like the higher rev's and sportiness of the 9's.
Try out someone's Buell, and/or make the trek to a dealer to try them, so you are sure not to regret the move to a Buell v-twin from a Japanese inline 4.

hmm not really looking for striaght line speed, any 1 took them on a track, how to they hold out against 600cc sports bikes?

probabaly mostly likey use it for a few trackdays, and weekend cruising .

but I'll get down at some point and try them out.

Mrs Adam is 5'4'' and manages fine with a Ss Long.
Even 6' folk can't reach the ground with both feet on big enduro bikes and they manage just fine

You may very well find the Buell disappointingly fragile after a trumpet. Also, with notable exceptions, the Harley dealers are not enthusiastic about Buells and that can show in their ability/desire to look after you as a customer. If you are buying from a dealer choose your dealer before you choose the bike! There are only two that are consistantly recommended on this site.

oh well not buying a buell now then since they just got closed down, no doubt I would get a bargin on a bike now, but stuff the spare parts prices , once harley decide you rip you guys off.

now they are rip off merchants.

if you are buying a new triumph beware as they lose alot of money mate

I just switched from an 05 Daytona 955i to an 1125R and after 750 miles in the first week, I'm not regretting it. A week tomorrow it'll be going round the Nurburgring.

BTW the Rotax engined Buells are cheaper than air cooled ones.

Indeed they are... I got a good deal on a brand new, but two year old Firebolt in 2007, but I paid a grand less for a one year old but brand new 1125R a few weeks ago. I am sure the 1125R prices will fall again, which will make them a performance bargain...
