Ok - I bought it from Fowlers in Bristol.
Maz, I've just checked trans breather pipe & its in tact, it also seems really dry inside. Please don't make me put it in the canal - I've only just got back into biking & this is so much fun compared to my last bike (Thunderace) I just want it to look good as well as bring smile to my face.

I want a Harrier. One flew over work the other day to celebrate 50 years of the engine

It came straight for us quite low, then banked left before circling round and landing over the road, I felt like I was in Top Gun and wanted to spill my coffee down my shirt and say "Goddam it Maverick" 8-)

Like these Pash :ner: !!!

The fly navy 100 tail fin on the harrier was painted by me

Thats alot of staining like maz said! you will need something spirit or solvent based to remove that as others have said.

Pash,

I can't help with the 'harrier' flight, but I could take you up in an Avid Speedwing if you like. :D

This looks to me like spray from the rear brake nipple, as not tight enough, that has then sprayed up the back of the bike, while on the road, and then dripped over the back end. I have seen something like this before. The swingarm and frame can be hot on a XB and that would make it worse.

It is a well known fact that if you leave brake fluid on paint, even for 10 sec, it will damage it.

I have to ask why you bought it like this. Anyway the paint finish is a semi-matt and T-Cut will make it shiney so will look odd.

Try and find a small area to test and if the stain goes away leave it for a week before doing anything else. If the stain has gone and it looks ok do the rest of the stains. If the stain has gone but the test area is shiney you will need to match it to the original matt finish. A bit of a problem but try some very worn 1000 grit paper with soap and water. It is a sort of suck it and see situation.

If you T-Cut the stain and it comes back/stays the fluid has fecked the paint. Strip and re-spray.

Good luck.
