OK, so here's the thing.

I'm 90% divorced and I will not have anywhere to store the Buell after 5pm on Sunday.

I'm going to be made redundant next month.

Literally the last time that the X1 was used was to visit Maz and have a thorough going over... but that was at least 5 years ago. Possibly longer.

I'd be happy to sell but I've no idea (and no ability) if / how it would be worthwhile to get it running or to sell it as it is with all the spares that I have. I kinda need the money more than I need the Buell and the lack of storage space means it is going to become a burden.

So, spend time and money making it a runner or try to sell it as it is?

Please don't just say "keep it or you'll regret it". I can't and I know I won't.

Ideas? Thoughts?

I agree with Don
It's a shame that it's got to go...but if that's what the plan dictates, so be it
Maybe get up to Emporium, get the bike sorted and see if Maz can find someone suitable enough to be the new owner
Advertise it for sale on here...there are more "enthusiasts" here than on Faecebook

and before you ask.....No thank you, I don't need another bike!

Have you tried to get it running Norm? It may need very little to actually get it running and will make a massive difference when you sell it. Sorry to hear your situation but totally understand why it needs to go, are you near to any other Buellers that could help you get it running so you can get it mot'd? If it ran before you might be lucky and just need to put some fresh fuel in and a new battery , most likely reason if it won't go would be fuel pump issues from being stood so long.
I think it's time for a bit of UKBeg community spirit to try and get this running for you ;)

Real sorry to hear this Norm. Last thing you need is extra financial burden.

Getting running again could be simple or could be a headache. The last X1 I bought (current bike) sat in someone's garage for 8 years, I ended up buying a new pump, injectors, plugs, fuel filter, fuel line, plugs and fuel. Thoroughly cleaned the tank, fresh fluids and a with a TPS reset it sputtered for quite a while and a couple rides later it started running well. Last thing I wanted to do after working all day and frying my brain was to spend time in a 45 C garage. Got it running but it took some money to do it.

Thanks, all. I got a bit of the UKBEG spirit from the one and only Ursus Americanus at the weekend, he was pretty close to a life saver there.

I'm going to try and fire it up. Literally the last time it ran was in Maz's shop so it couldn't have been in much better hands.

Seconded, I still have great memories of Norm and myself having an evening spin down the coast from Ballintoy. Happy days 😀

Take care out there Norm , keep bugging us all with questions and think positive mate 8-) and well done Steve for being there. One good thing is that UK fuel isn't anywhere near as bad as the stuff they have in the USA so I think if you drain the old fuel out and put some new in if the pump fires up it will go ;) if it does put a shot of fuel system cleaner in and get it fully warmed up then change the oil and get it mot'd ;)

Good luck Norm, hope the X1 fires up. Where you are the world, I am sure there must be folks available with the knowledge to get it going. Don't suffer in silence, those of who have been around awhile know how you're suffering and you're not alone on your own out there. I haven't ridden a bike in well over a decade but I am hoping to put that right soon. Maybe you can do something similar.

Thanks, all.

The UKBEG spirit (which isn't 70% proof, contrary to what I believed :D ) got me the Superpower that is Ursus to help me to reclaim custody of my bikes but the keys have helpfully been put into a storage box.

Specifically, the keys have been put into one of around 100 storage boxes which are now in a lock up. Unfortunately, I didn't get told the keys were in one of the boxes until after I'd put all of the boxes into the lock up so they could be in the first box I open or they could be 30' from the door with 4 other boxes on top. Without the keys, I've got two very effective paperweights.
