you may well jest but i have see that done .
small screw through rim into tyre bead to stop it creeping under braking loads,and deflating :old:

Very common on Trials bikes using tubes and 3psi pressure. Stops the valve getting ripped out and much cheaper than rim locks, which can be a bit naughty when you've got one tyre lever and very muddy hands lOl (...and a huge bunch of mates taking the piss lOl )

I remember NCK using "self tappers" through the rear rim and into the tyre on their racing H2 back in the late '70's
