I bought a 77 Yam 500 TT bash guard from India and it was ok, although they say the ali tanks for them are crap welds.

I bought an Indian made "Norton" tank for my project bike. It was a good price and considering that I was going to saw it length ways in half, I wasn't too bothered about the quality. When I made the infill strips and fuel/ oil bungs up and got Al to weld it all up, the dye test did show up a couple of pin pricks in the original welds, but certainly no more bother than fixing up a rusty 1930's original that would cost 6 times the price at an autojumble. Overall, I was happy with the quality.
