I sold my last Uly 6 years ago, picked up my latest yesterday, i now need some advice from you guys please.

The bike has only done 640 miles from new.

Firstly how easy/difficult is it to totally drain the tank, I believe the fuel has been in there for a year, the bike starts and runs ok but if it’s not to much of a task I’d like to drain it down and start with fresh fuel.

Next what mods do you recommend I seem to recall one involving repositioning a harness under the seat.

I will probably fit an aftermarket tensioner.

Definitely want to change the exhaust, my last one had an Albert fitted and I loved the sound and look of it.

Anything else you’d advise me to look at doing.
Thanks in advance.

wecome back :yup:
if the bike start and runs ok then the fuel can't be that bad ,take it for a gentle ride and top up with new fuel ( the super unleaded ) :yup:
I would change the oil ( both engine and gearbox ) never know how old it is
as for mods kinda depends on what year your new bike is ?
freespirts tensioner
maz nipple mod
oil pump drive gear ( early ones wear out over time ) but as your new bike only got 640 miles guess your going to be ok for a while
go and see or phone :maz: he's also got an open day coming up in july

Uly is a 2010 bike, I have an invoice from the previouse owner from November 2017 for a full recommissioning service at 500 miles every thing done £1700 .

I will have to start searching on here for the best race pipe with max power and noise, I did like the Albert on my last one, but you guys might have better recommendations, any pointers for a good workshop manual.

Move your ECM, lots of pics on here over the years how it has been done. The seat pushes down on the grey connector (especially during hot weather) and breaks the solder on the circuit board giving you intermittent connections, flagged up by very low AFV and poor running.

You won't need to do this as you have an 08/09/10 model...

Make sure you check around the reflectors on the fork legs for corrosion too, it may not affect the year of your bike...but it still wouldn't hurt to do
I presume that this is the same bike that's apparently not for sale in the for sale section

I've been admiring your ad for the XTZ. I've always thought that if anything happened to my Uly the XT would be its replacement but a quick run to Bristol and around the Cotswolds last week confirmed that there really is no substitute.

I have an APH silencer but would recommend a header change to US spec (pre-08 UK spec) to go with it.
Congratulations on finding such a low mileage unmolested bike.

I have a 2010 Ulysses and run a full APH big downpipes exhaust system from Albert666 :yup: It's a thing of beauty, sounds sweet and runs really well.

Nick for some reason the search won’t accept ECM so I am unable to find the thread on relocating it any ideas on which key words to use when searching for this please.

I have taken a deposit for the Super Tenere this weekend and it should go in 7 days, they are great bikes this was my second new one.
What is the advantage of the earlier headder pipes and would I need to have a re map if changing either the pipe on its own or both headders and pipe.

Mine's a 2009. The first thing I did when I got it was to buy a 2010 rear wheel and a US Spec bigger bore header while they were still available from HD. >08 models have smaller bore headers, a cat in the exhaust and lose 10hp.
If Alan makes the headers too then I would use his.

This would leave you with quite a bit of popping and banging on the overrun but Nick's mods in this thread get rid of most of that:

Ref ECM I went the other route and used a drill / dremal and cut/ elongated a hole in the plastic seat base where it catches so as to give clearance
