... but its not an 1125R.

I originally looked at 1125Rs when I was looking to replace my expired Benelli Grenado. I got a Triumph Dulltona 955i instead and you can guess what I thought of that. Sold it.

Then I looked at 1125Rs again and got a Guzzi Sport 1100 which I have had no end of trouble with.

A friend's dad had this XB9R Firebolt, and when I had a clutch problem (which turned out to be an adjuster issue) on the Sport, he offered a swap. He actually ended up fixing the Sport for me, and I politely declined.

Anyway, I finally got fed up of chasing the ace on the Sport's issues and agreed to swap.

I am so damn glad I did.

I thought 'Oh, I'll keep it for a few months and sell it if I don't like it'. Fat chance of that happening now. It pulls as hard as I'd ever want, stops exactly when and how I tell it to, and turns like a 125 but with better grip. Everything it does is forceful but not violent, I've only ridden it about 12 miles and I feel connected to it.

It'll be a nice little hooligan counterpart to my long and equally characterful Guzzi Griso.

I have a couple of questions though. I would like to put a remap on it as it snap crackles and pops a little too much. Which program is best for this, and where could I get leads to plug my PC into the ECU? Also, the previous owner removed the decals. Which would be the best way to go about sticking them back on?

Cheers, and I hope to see some of you out on the roads!

Thank you to you both!

Oh another question, there are some light scratches etc on the bodywork. Which is the best way to go about removing these? Or should I get it professionally buffed? I know its colour-injected plastic :)

Welcome.

I enjoyed my old 955i BTW :) Not as nimble as the Buell but plenty enough muscle.

Happy riding.

Some stickers will look good and a seat cowl ;)

Oh I have the seat cowl on it now :)

The 955i... I took it on track and Donington after having the suspension set up. It did everything well, handled OK, enough power, good fuel tank size, not too uncomfy. What it didn't have is character. Whiny gearbox, nearly noiseless engine (I had to take out my earplugs!) and overheated terribly under 40mph. Mine was the '56 final model so it was also the ugly duckling of the 955i production run.

Great bike, but did nothing for me :/

Good looking firebolt there Guzzihero

Would you be interested in a complete body set for a firebolt in white?
The airbox cover has the orange lettering.
It is a used body set ,so it has some scratches and the front fairing is missing the black inlays around the headlights.

I have used the airbox cover ,lower fairing and front fender on a xb lightning for a couple years.

I quite like the blue to be fair, contrasts nicely with my big boy Griso. But how much would you be looking for?

The Griso:

I adore mine. I have had Guzzis since the 90's and its by far the best of them all. The engine feels modern, very unGuzzilike! The gearbox is excellent, build quality is great thanks to Aprilia taking them on.

Its still quite long, but great handling thanks to the wide bars, and the weight is really low down. They do suffer from midrange power drop because of their standard tuning so mine has been dyno tuned. I've done lap times round Cadwell at just below 2 minutes, and chased down a few Japanese bike riders in the process ;)

I love it and will never part with it.

Thanks for the info, do both the 1100 & 1200 suffer from the valve train issues?

Only 1200 up to a certain vin number. They were recalled and fitted with roller cams so if that's been done it's golden.

If you do by a CaRC model there's a few other worthwhile things to know such as removing all throttle cable slack to prevent driveline lash.

Hi and welcome, hope you enjoy the bike.

our American cousins use Novus for scratches in Buell plastic, never tried it myself, but it seems to be the universally accepted 'best product for the job' over the pond

https://www.novuspolish.com/

available through Amazon/ ebay, etc........
