Interesting discussion. I got into Buell via an XB9 which I still think was the most fun and best handling bike I’ve ever ridden - I’ll caveat that by saying for someone of my skills.

We now have a tuber in the garage and an SX which are totally different bikes and are brilliant to ride in completely different ways. I still miss that 9 :(

We’re all different and like different bikes - how boring would it be if everyone loved the same bikes?

Let’s just be nice and accept others likes are different. No? Didn’t think so :rotfl:

It always makes me smile that anyone believes the emissions and mpg figures pushed out by the manufacturers. I just assume it's bollox - and it normally is. Result :yup:

As a Test and Development engineer currently working at an OEM and having worked at various others, can categorically say that this remark is entirely..........

accurate.

A bit late with my answer to x1glider, I was on a short holiday. The MOT for all vehicles in Northern Ireland is a government run annual test for vehicles over four years old. There is the visual check on bodywork, lights, VIN numbers and then the emission check on cars, not on bikes at present. All vehicles must do the rolling brake test with the examiner riding your bike. IF you insist on doing the brake test yourself you are not insured for any damage that might occur from falling over. If the examiner drops it you can then claim compensation. They have the means of testing the noise level of the bike but in all honesty I have never seen it used.
The bike testers are supposed to have motorcycle licences and I have asked for proof before handing the bike over to them.
Eventually when a vehicle reaches twenty five years old the compulsory test becomes a voluntary safety check.
Once again Tubers will benefit from this law before the XB survivors roll in.
