My recent purchase AT LAST!

Seat is a bit low for me any advice?
also Maz has pointed out a few jobs that need doing.
Got to decide if I can afford (or have to afford?) to have a major service.

Look for a standard seat and get rid of the cowl. It looks tidy, a pro race system isn't essential. It would be nice but not essential. Lucky hands oil pump drive gear is more essential if it's not got one.

Sit on some books or get the seat recovered with fatter foam.

That looks nice mate, the seller didn't do it any favours with his photography. Isn't that a standard seat with one of the leather seat covers for sale on eBay?

will have a look in morning.
as I live in the sticks Buells are in all honesty a rare sight.
I have a steep learning curve but as a qualified mechanic and have worked on many different types of machine I will get there.
I would like to get a second opinion with some of the issues.
So I need to decide how much money and how best to spend it first.
Common sense says engine first as this can be very expensive oil pump first port of call.

I agree regarding the engine and Buell's are equally rare in the city. Honestly can't recall the last time I came across one on the road. Regarding the seat have a look in the wanted section, there is a link to some covers just like your one and someone wants one ( didn't specify what colour ) possibly a swap? Maybe worth a look.

Thanks for the reply.
checked the seat yesterday does appear to be a replacement cover. New staples.
i may try removing front and repacking as there is a lot of slack in cover.
My daughters boyfriend makes sails and will hopefully make me a custom cover unless I can find one elsewhere. an extra 50 mm would suffice.
will insure and tax today then give it a road test!

How did it go?

Post subject:  Re: x1

did not get a chance had to travel to brecon broken down sewage treatment plant!
so much for retirement.
looking at gel pad as temporary seat .
Most important job for wekend is remove oil pump and inspect gear.
As parts and specialist labour is expensive i have rebuilt silencer baffles checked for cracks all ok for now.
wheel bearings feel ok as well as steering.
Prioritising is essential.
