I'd prefer one of these from that range. Consistent braking whiles not wearing out the rims

Nice write up Nick
Just go's to show how unique our Buells are and what a hoot they are to ride.
out of all the bikes i ride or have had in the past, i never get bored with the Buell.
Do like the retro look of the thruxton R.

I added a 9RT Scrambler to my collection in March, it is a stonking bike, I got it on knobblies because you have to actually ride it, road tyres make it very easy to ride......It is more powerful than the Buell, the torque is monster, it is ripping through the rear tyre as the acceleration is most excellent.
I can take it off road too, so it is a good replacement for my GS, but really......It is just a 'hipster in a box' kit ;) It replaces the Buell in so many ways.

Years ago I had a BMW Rockster, weird looking thing but was great. Sadly I managed to write it off after only six months ;) It replaced an XB9 that managed to fall apart in the Scottish weather.

I then had a GS. The thing I disliked about both of them was the 'pots'; I just can't get over how ugly they are.

The whole dealer support thing is import for someone like me who doesn't spanner.

Att the hipster. Any hipster that talks to him is gonna get a shock :rotfl:

So I am severely missing something here...

Take out the 9RT Urban, it is a totally different machine, it looks the bollocks and it will be fun off road.....The higher bars allow you to take control and give it a damn good seeing to, once it is run in and you give a hand full, the fucker comes up so easily, I am no wheelie merchant, but this fucker just wants to be gang raped.....

Yes. It sounds like they have taken a step backwards with the racer. It's one of those bikes that the more you put in the more you get back. It isn't as easy to ride as the buell but just as much fun and will out perform it.

Post subject:  Re: Buell replacement

Back in 2010 as my Xb9 Buell replacement I got a GS coz everyone was raving about them, the test bike was ok but nowt special, the one I had was no where near as torquey as the XB and the quality of ride very poor at a anything past 4k revs, it was used every day in all weathers and was cleaned each night but still the engine and frame started to disintegrate after only 3 months, the service guy was very good but the dealer management were the worst yet, their attitude was shocking and treated us lot as scum. Anyhoo, got a KTM adventure now and it is a vast improvement but still my 06 Uly is the one that makes me smile. The point is, I have been trying bikes with my old S3T and XB as reference and nothing even comes close, when each bike is tested as its own character then there are some good uns out there that I haven't given enough unbiased attention to. Have since ridden the new GS adventure and what a big difference that is, could be the new water-cooled head system or just me seeing it without constantly rating it against a Buell.

Good write up though Pash, thank you.
