After using the M2 in all weathers and doing nearly thirty thousand miles since Maz did his magic on it four years ago she is looking a bit tatty. I painted it back in 2005 when my bruv att was still the owner so it hasn't done too bad. Tank started to bubble two years back so have decided to construct a lightweight composite cover for the tank as I know the problems I will have if I paint the plastic dustbin that is now recycled to look like a fuel tank.
I'll keep you posted on how it works as I know there are those out there who like me.cannot justify the cost of an alloy tank as beautiful as they certainly are. Has to be done for Emm's do so need to get my finger out especially as I'm planning on painting bikes again, so this needs to be a good advert off me.

Cool update. What's the chances of making other composite covers (assuming they are not too labour intensive for you)?

The covers should be easy enough and shouldn't be too labour intensive, will have to see how the first one goes and how it proves in use then maybe I would make them available.

I have CTB's M2 in the shop at the moment and that has a composite cover with an air gap made by it's previous owner in Canada......you cannot tell until you turn the tank over !

Good to see you again Howard.

This idea I am liking. It would be great to be able to ge fresh paint on a tank that looked totally standard (nice as the Hkoltworks tanks are, I'd struggle to be happy with one painted, the seam around the base would ruin it.

You can't change the wrinkly one :o it's a one off, an original. Like the Mona Lisa only a bit more wrinkly :run:

Touching wood (not my dick) my m2 is 16 years old and tank not bubbled yet and i bought a brand new one last year. Should last me till i slide off the plate :rotfl:
